On November 25, 2024, the University \u201cUkshin Hoti\u201d\u00a0 Prizren, Faculty of Law organized a lecture with Prof. Dr. D\u017eevad Mahmutovi\u0107 \u2013 University of Tuzla \u2013 Faculty of Law, held online and in the Senate Hall of the University, on the topic “Transitional Justice Mechanisms: The Case of Bosnia and Herzegovina”.<\/p>\n

The event, organized as part of the LL.M. program in Democratic Governance and the Rule of Law, specifically within the framework of the course titled “Confronting the Past and Building the Future”, of Prof. Ass. Dr. Shefki Shterbani, \u00a0brought together students, academics and legal professionals to explore the challenges and mechanisms of transitional justice in post-conflict societies.<\/p>\n

Prof. Mahmutovi\u0107 provided a comprehensive analysis of the mechanisms used in Bosnia and Herzegovina to address war crimes, promote reconciliation, and provide reparations to victims. Drawing on his extensive research and professional experience, he discussed how these mechanisms aim to balance the often conflicting demands of justice and social healing in a region marked by a turbulent history.<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. D\u017eevad Mahmutovi\u0107 is a researcher in criminal law, criminology, and transitional justice. With a Ph.D. in law focusing on war crimes and reparations, he has made significant contributions to the study and practice of justice in post-conflict societies. He has authored and co-authored nine books and over 30 scholarly papers, shedding light on key legal and criminological issues.
